Fat Dissolving Aqualyx Treatment

What is Aqualyx?

Aqualyx is a gel based fat dissolving solution containing the active ingredient Desoxychol-acid. This secondary bile acid is a naturally occurring acid with the human body and has an essential function concerning the digestion of fat.

How does Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Treatment work?

Aqualyx is used to target fatty deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise. The active ingredient induces a process called lipolysis, where the fat cells rupture and die. The Desoxychol-acid breaks down the fat cell wall releasing the fatty acid that is stored within. The bodies lymphatic system removes the fatty liquid through the venous system, where it is then processed in the same way as fatty foods are digested.

Cellulite – Mesotherapy has been shown to be particularly effective in the treatment of cellulite by eliminating the fat cells, stimulating circulation and repairing damaged connective tissue. The ‘orange peel’ like appearance can be greatly reduced, resulting in smoother, toned skin.

Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Treatment

Before your Aqualyx Treatment

Before having your procedure you will attend an initial complimentary consultation at our cosmetic clinic in Bexley, Kent.  At your consultation you can discuss all aspects of the procedure so you can decide if Aqualyx is the right treatment for you, where upon your trained and qualified medical aesthetic doctor will decide if you are suitable to receive Aqualyx.  This free assessment usually takes around 30 minutes.

Please note that injectable aesthetic procedures are not suitable if you are pregnant or breast feeding.

Please advise your treating doctor if you are diabetic or have severe allergies.

During your Aqualyx Treatment

Treatment takes around 30- 60 minutes to administer depending on the area(s) of the body being treated. Using a new technique to minimise the number of injections, a canula injects directly into the fatty tissue. The procedure is virtually pain free as Aqualyx contains a local anaesthetic.

After your Aqualyx Treatment

Directly after treatment the treated area(s) will become swollen which may last a few days. You may see mild redness, and sometimes slight bleeding at the site of injection however these temporary side effects quickly subside. There is a possibility of bruising and it is recommended that arnica tablets are taken a few days prior to treatment.
Results are seen gradually over the next 3 – 4 weeks post treatment. To achieve your desired result you may need between 3 to 6 session every 4 to 6 weeks.

To maximise the effects of Fat Dissolving Injections we recommend you take the following aftercare steps:
  • Avoid applying any cosmetics within the first 12 hours.
  • Avoid all direct sources of heat i.e. sun, UV radiation, saunas etc.
  • Abstain from particularly demanding physical exercise for 67 days post treatment.
  • Follow a healthy diet and gentle exercise regime.
  • Gently massage the treated area(s) daily between procedures
  • Normal skincare / make up routines can be performed without excess pressure 12 hours post procedure.
Our Doctors are all medical professionals. They are available throughout all stages of your treatment so if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the clinic. Results may vary as each client is different but you are welcome to arrange an appointment to see your treating practitioner at any time to ensure you are happy with your procedure.

Aqualyx Fat Dissolving Side Effects

Aqualyx is a medical procedure that should always be carried out by a doctor. It is considered a safe and effective medical aesthetic treatment. However mild redness and swelling is to be expected following treatment, which normally subsides within a few days.  Bruising and needle marks are a possible side effect, which may also last a few days.  If bruising occurs, use arnica cream or Auriderm to help it subside.
