What our clients say:-
' the thought of a chemical peel was a bit scarey at first, but I was pleasently suprised at how painless the whole thing was. I had 4 Easy TCA peels which meant i could still carry on life as normal but got the results of a mid depth peel. I am positively glowing' - Claire Age 45
'
my skin was looking so tired and dull i didn't know where to turn. My friend suggested I go to Persona. They did a one off TCA peel and the results are amazing. I have a light Phytic peel once every 2 months to help maintaine the results. One year later and my skin still looks amazing' - Jo Age 39
About Chemical Peels
Chemical peels are a great way to improve the overall appearance and health of the skin. They help reduce fines lines, pigmentation, sun damage, acne and scarring, while significantly improving the complexion. Skin peels accelerate the removal of old, dead skin cells on the surface, which in turn promotes the production of new skin cell growth. They can be used to treat specific areas of the face ie the eyes or ‘smokers lines’ or as an overal anti ageing skin rejuvenation treatment for the face, neck, chest and hands. They are also a great way of treating acne.
Chemical peels date back to Ancient Egyptian times when Cleopatra was said to rejuvenate her skin by using fruit acids. The products used today are far more sophisticated, but the principles remain the same. At Persona, we use only clinically tried and tested brands to produce safe, predictable results. Chemical peels can have a dramatic effect on the way you look, helping to erase the signs of ageing, rejuvenating and polishing dull skin and shrinking open pores.
At Persona we use medically formulated chemical peels, which can only be administered by a doctor or nurse. The acids we use are designed to safely penetrate the skin to the exact depth we require depending on the problem we are treating. They are not available on the high street and should not be confused with very mild peels carried out by beauty therapists. Our peeling system allows the skin to be treated at different depths depending on the clients concerns.
Superficial Phytic Peels –these work on the surface layers of the skin, treating complexion problems such as mild pigmentation & sun damage, acne and to generally boost the complexion. There is no down time with this type of treatment.
Mid depth TCA (trichloroacetic acid) Peels – these address the concerns as above but can help reduce lines & wrinkles, significant pigmentation & sun damage, melasma, chloasma and scarring. There is some mild peeling of the skin after treatment.
Deep Phenol peels – these target the very deep lines, particulary those ingrained around the lips ‘smokers lines’, and the eyes. They can also tighten the skin and are great way to non surgically address the loose skin of the upper and lower eye lid. There is about 10 days downtime due to significant peeling but many clients feel that 10 days down time iswell worth 10 years off their face.
Our experience practitioners can advise on the best peeling system for you and your lifestyle. We can offer a one off treatment which usually carries more down time through to a course of milder treatments that achieve the desired results, but allows you to carry on every day life.
Q & A's
Q. how do chemical peels work ?
A. the chemicals used in a peel, literally remove layers of the skin. It is in these layers that skin problems reside. The stronger the peel used and the longer it is left on the skin determins how many layers of the skin are removed, therefore how deep the peel will penetrate.
Q.
are they painful ?
A. peels are not as painful as you may think as often the acids used give a mild anaesthetic effect. Also the peeling solutions only need to be left on the skin for a couple of minutes.
Q.how long will it take to see the results ?
A.maximum results will be achieved when the skin has healed internally as well as externally. This depends on the type of peel
Q. how long do the results last ?
A. this depends on your age, the problems we are trying to treat and how often you expose you skin to strong sunlight. It is often a good idea to have maintenance treatments few months, but these are often lighter peels and only one treatment required. With this type of program, results can last for years.
Q.How many peels will I need ?
A. the recommended number of peels required depends on the concerns we are treating and weather you can afford the down time or not. Peels are either a one off or course of 4
Q. will I have to stay indoors for a long time after this treatment ?
A. this depends on the type of peel that you have. In most cases the peeling is mild and you can carry on as normal.
Q. will I have to stay out of the sun?
A. we would not advise having a chemical peel if you plan on exposing your skin to the sun shortly afterwards. This is because after peeling the new skin coming through is more sensitive and prone to burning.
Q.do I have to use special creams?
A. Yes. We provide all the creams you will need and the cost of these is often included in the price of the peel.
*You may experience flaking of the skin for several days post treatment depending on the strength or type of peel.
Have sun beds or expose treated area(s) to direct sunlight whilst having the treatment.
Wear a broad spectrum SPF over the exposed treated area(s).
Apply post peel products as recommended py Persona.
Normal skincare / make up routine can be resumed within 24hrs.
