Thread Lift

This is the ultimate treatment for tightening up the jawline and neck as this is a physical lift without the knife. We all look in the mirror and pull our skin back, thinking if only it would stay there. Well this is where a Thread Lift comes in. Threads are placed under the skin and when retracted cause the skin to lift and be anchored in position. They are similar to a long suture which has hundreds of small knots on it which is how they hold the skin in the lifted position.

At Persona we use Spring threads, made of a revolutionary new material giving much better, longer lasting results. What is a Thread Lift?

Thread lift is a cosmetic procedure that offers a minimally invasive alternative to  facelift surgery. It tightens your skin by inserting medical-grade thread material into your face, “pulling” your skin up by tightening the thread.

Also called a barbed suture lift, it aims to lift and sculpt the shape of your face. Thread lifts use temporary, medical-grade suture material to “stitch-up” your skin so that it’s drawn taut.

Treatments  have been around since the 1990’s, but innovations in the material used for thread lifts have led to an increase in popularity in recent years.

The typical candidate for this treatment is in their late 30s to early 60s. A person who is generally in good health and is just starting to notice the signs of ageing may benefit the most from the subtle impact of a thread lift.

Those who can’t have a surgical facelift because of medical conditions that make general anaesthesia risky may consider a thread lift as a safer alternative.

How does a it work?

The thread lift procedure is fairly straightforward; we thread thin, dissolvable sutures underneath your skin, and are then able to pull your skin tight around your forehead, lower face, jowls, neck, or brows (Fox Eye Lift)

Invisible, painless “barbs” grab on to your skin and make sure that the thread grips your underlying tissue and muscles as the thread is pulled tight.

Once a barbed thread is inserted, your body’s healing response is triggered. Even though you’re not injured by the threads under your skin, your body detects a suture material and stimulates collagen production in the affected area. Collagen can fill gaps in sagging skin and restore a more youthful elasticity to your face.

Everything you need to know about Thread Lift at Persona

  • What is a Thread Lift and how does it work?
    The Thread Lift is a non-surgical minimally invasive procedure that lifts, rejuvenates and redefines the face in a similar way to a surgical facelift but without the need for surgery. The threads are made from a safe synthetic material similar to that used for stitching the skin and has been used medically for many years. The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin using fine needles, as the thread is pulled back the skin is tightened and lifted in the direction of the thread and anchored in place.
  • Which areas can be treated?
    Thread lifting can be used almost anywhere on the face or body with the following being the most popular areas

  • How soon will I see results?
    An immediate result can be seen, however the threads will stimulate the production of collagen and elastin the 2 proteins in the skin responsible for giving it tension and during the 12 weeks following procedure the skin will become tighter and more lifted The threads naturally dissolve after about 8 months, but the newly produced collagen and elastin will have formed to maintain the lift and hold the skin in its new position.
  • How long do the results last?
    Results can vary from one person to the next depending the condition of their skin and the specific lift had but generally your results will last around 18 months.
  • Is a Thread Lift safe?
    The threads used at Persona are both FDA approved and are very safe and are only administered by trained and experienced medical practitioners. Post procedure, the area treated will often be tender with some swelling or puffiness lasting a few days, with any bruising lasting about a week.
    In very rare circumstances, the thread end may work its way out of the entrance to the skin, this is remedied by your Persona practitioner by simply trimming the protruding end. Do not attempt to re-insert the thread yourself, as this may possibly result in an infection.
    Patients may develop a ‘puckering’ of the skin, this can again be remedied by your Persona practitioner lightly massaging the area. Do not attempt to do this yourself.
  • How should I care for my skin after a Thread Lift?
    To maximise the effects of your thread lift treatment we recommend you take the following after care steps:

    • Do not rub or massage the treated areas for one month following insertion of threads. This
    • could lead to them breaking and loss of the aesthetic result.
    • Do not undertake any vigorous exercise for one week.
    • Use ice packs and pain killers/anti-inflammatory medication if required.
    • Try not to make exaggerated facial movements for the first few days.
    • Use a soft pillow to help cushion the face and try if possible to sleep slightly upright.
    • Do not have any laser, CACI or radio-frequencyprocedures on the treated areas for 8 months.
  • Where will I have my Thread Lift?
