Thread Vein Treatment

Sclerotherapy and Thermolysis are two clinically proven, highly effective treatment options. Similarly can be used for getting rid of unsightly spider veins, thread veins, blood spots and broken capillaries.

What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a well established treatment used by medical practitioners for many years. Meanwhile it is still one of the most successful treatments. Predominantly for visible vein related concerns on the legs and body. A prescribed ‘sclerosing’ agent is injected into the dilated veins. Therefore causing the internal lining of these vessels to become irritated and inflamed. Resulting in them breaking down and dissolving away. However as there are many other healthy vessels supplying blood to the surrounding skin, removing the non functioning veins is safe.

What is Thermolysis?

Thermolysis, also known as short wave diathermy. Using a high frequency electrical current, it diminishes thread veins and broken blood vessels. However this treatment is predominantly used on the face.  It is gently inserted into the vessel using a hair thin probe. Electrical current is then passed through it. This coagulates the blood supply. Consequently weakening and destroying the vessel wall. In short, it will then be absorbed by the body. The effects are immediate and permanent.

What to expect after treatment:

After your sclerotherapy treatment, you may experience mild bruising, swelling or itching at the injection sites, these usually resolve within a few days.

In some cases after thermolysis, the treated area may appear slightly red or flushed, but this typically fades within a few hours.

When to expect results:

Results from sclerotherapy develop gradually. While some veins may begin to fade within a few weeks, most clients see noticeable improvement after 4-6 weeks. For larger, more stubborn veins, multiple sessions may be needed. Full results can take up to 3 months to appear, depending on the size and number of veins treated.

Results from thermolysis for facial thread veins are often visible immediately after treatment.  As the body absorbs the treated vessels, the skin becomes noticeably clearer over the following 7 to 14 days.

Depending on the number and depth of the veins, some clients may require a course of up to 3 sessions, spaced a few weeks apart, for complete results. Once removed, the treated veins do not return, although new veins can form over time due to genetics or environmental factors.
