How Vampire PRP Therapy works

Posted by Cosmetic Digital on Friday 25th January 2019 at 2:09 pm

True skin changes and health begins beneath the surface of the skin, a place where some topical products can’t penetrate. This is why the popularity of treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, and Vampire PRP therapy (or PRP) has continued to grow because they stimulate changes beneath the superficial skin surface. We’re going to explore Vampire PRP therapy in this post and discover how it works, who it helps, and why it’s so popular.

What is PRP?

Vampire PRP therapy isn’t as scary its name suggests! PRP uses a sample of your own blood to rejuvenate your skin from within. We take a small sample of your blood and place it in a centrifuge which spins it at a rapid speed. This separates the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of your blood, and this is the component that we use in the treatment. This plasma is then injected into your treatment area to encourage internal healing and rejuvenation.

How does Vampire PRP therapy work?

So, the science behind PRP is as follows. Your blood, and more specifically your platelet-rich plasma, contain valuable growth factors used for wound healing and tissue repair. How these little platelets work is that when they are injected, they ‘alert’ neighbouring cells and skin structures to skin damage. This then encourages the neighbouring skin cells to react the same way and treat the injected area as the site of a wound, even if there isn’t one, creating a concentrated area of platelet activity. Beneath the surface of the skin they stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and fresh skin cells to rejuvenate ageing skin and damaged cells from the inside-out. What PRP does, essentially, is trick your skin into thinking it needs to heal and repair damage there when really, we don’t need to break the surface at all other than injecting the platelets. PRP therapy has even been used by top athletes to accelerate wound healing in tissue and joints. This means we can safely rejuvenate and boost ageing, tired, and dull skin with the healing powers you already possess within your own blood!
