Cyst Removal in Bexleyheath

Skin cysts are round, closed sacs that form beneath the skin. They usually contain keratin, fluid, or a thick/oily substance. Common types incude epidermoid and sebaceous cysts. These often appear on the face, neck, back or scalp.
While cysts are usually benign, they can grow, become inflamed, or even rupture. As a result, many people choose to have them removed, either to prevent further issues, or for cosmetic purposes.
Cysts do not resolve on their own, unlike spots. Attempting to squeeze or pop them can cause infection or scarring, and rarely removes the full cyst.

How do we remove Cyst at Persona Medical Aesthetics?
Cysts are surgically removed under local anaesthetic, using minor surgical excision. This procedure removes the cyst wall and contents in one step. This method significantly reduces the chance of the cyst growing back as it treats the root of the problem, rather than just the surface.

How does the treatment work?
After a thorough cleanse and application of local anesthetic, we make a small incision directly over the cyst. Next, we separate the cyst sac from any surrounding tissue and lift it out completely. The area will then be stitched and dressed. In some cases you will be required to return to the clinic to have the stitches removed 1-2 weeks later, unless dissolvable stitches are used.
What to expect from your cyst removal treatment
Healing begins right away. You may notice a small scab or slight redness at the treatment site. This typically resolves within 5-10 days.
When to expect results:
As the skin heals, the area smooths out naturally. While you don’t need to schedule any downtime, we recommend keeping the area clean, avoiding perfumes near the site and protecting the skin from sun exposure.
