Milia is a common skin condition that causes small white bumps (cysts) under the surface of your skin.Milia (milk spots) are small, white cysts on your skin. Cysts are filled pockets under the surface of your skin. The most common place to find milia are on your face. Milia are harmless and only affect your appearance. It’s common to confuse the white bumps on your face with whiteheads, which are a type of acne. Milia aren’t a type of acne.

Manual needle extraction involves using a sterile needle to open the surface of the skin and gently extract the trapped contents from under the skin.
Diathermy uses a controlled electric current to break down and dry out the milia, allowing the body to clear them naturally over the following days.

How does the treatment work?

The area is gently cleansed, and if necessary, the area is numbed with topical anesthetic to provide comfort, especially for more sensitive areas, such as under the eyes.

For manual needle extraction, the medical team will gently pierce the surface of each milium using a sterile needle. Then, with a comedone extractor, they will apply light pressure to release any contents that have been trapped.

For diathermy, they use a fine tipped probe to deliver tiny bursts of heat directly to each milium. The energy breaks down the keratin buildup and triggers a natural healing response.

There is little to no downtime post procedure and you can often return to your usual activities immediately.

What to expect from your Milia removal treatment

Some mild redness or tiny scabs might appear, particularly after diathermy, but these usually fade quickly.

When to expect results:

You’ll see visible improvement right after treatment, especially with manual extractions. For diathermy, results develop gradually as the body clears the dried milium over the next 5-10 days.

To prevent more milia from forming, we recommend using non-comedogenic skincare, especially around the eye area.

What is Milia and how is it removed?

Milia are small, hard, white bumps that appear on the skin, often around the eyes and cheeks. They are caused by trapped keratin under the skin. Removal is done safely and precisely by a trained professional using sterile extraction techniques to prevent scarring and promote smooth, clear skin.
Is the treatment painful and how long does it take?

Most clients experience minimal discomfort, often described as a slight prick during extraction. Treatments are quick, typically taking 10–20 minutes depending on the number of milia being removed.
Is there any downtime or aftercare?

There is little to no downtime. Mild redness or tenderness may occur for a few hours, and proper aftercare — keeping the area clean and avoiding picking — helps prevent recurrence and promotes healing.

Skin tags

Skin tags are generally small, noncancerous growths that tend to be the same colour as your skin. They often look like a cluster of skin tissue extending out from a tiny stem. They’re sometimes darker and may resemble a raised mole.

Keratosis

Angiomas

Angiomas are non-cancerous tumors that are made up of blood or lymphatic vessels and can appear anywhere on the body. They are usually soft and can be pink, red, purple, or reddish-black in color.

Syringomas

Syringomas are small, firm, benign bumps that form when sweat glands become overactive. They are skin-coloured, yellowish, brown, or pink, and are usually 1–3 millimeters wide. They often appear in clusters on both sides of the body.

Xanthelasma

Xanthelasma, or xanthelasma palpebrarum (XP), is a harmless, yellow growth that appears on or by the corners of your eyelids next to your nose. Cholesterol deposits build up under your skin which is the cause of these.

Venous Lake

A venous lake is a soft, squashable, blue or purple macule or papule. Although they may arise anywhere, most venous lakes are diagnosed on the lower lip (on the vermilion margin or mucosal surface), on an earlobe, or elsewhere on the face, neck, or upper trunk.
