What is a Keloid?

Keloid removal helps reduce the size, improve appearance and relieve symptoms of discomfort or itching.

How does the treatment work?
The steroid injection is injected directly into scar tissue it:
- Suppresses inflammation
- Reduces fibroblast activity, the cells that make collagen
- Slows excessive collagen production
- Softens, flattens, and reduces symptoms of itch and pain

What to expect after treatment:
After a keloid steroid injection expect stinging and slight swelling for a day or two, then gradual softening and less itch over 3 to 4 weeks. Most people need 3 to 6 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart, and mild thinning or lightening of skin can occur so use sun protection and report any breakdown or major colour change.
When to expect results:
Injections are repeated every 4 to 6 weeks. Most patients need 3 to 6 sessions, with visible softening after 1 to 2 sessions and optimal flattening over 4 to 6 months. Injections are stopped when the scar is stable, flat, or if side effects develop.

Keloids are raised, thickened scars that grow beyond the boundaries of the original wound. Treatment options include surgical removal, corticosteroid injections, or a combination approach to reduce size, improve appearance, and prevent recurrence.
-
What results can I expect and how many treatments are needed?
Results vary depending on size, location, and age of the keloid. Many clients see significant improvement in appearance and texture after 1–3 sessions, though some may require additional treatments for optimal results.
-
Is the treatment safe and is there downtime?
Yes. Keloid treatments are performed by Dr Braham Ouali. Mild swelling, redness, or tenderness may occur for a few days, but downtime is minimal, and most clients can resume normal activities shortly after treatment.
